This is it a truly unique blog where you can learn how to play the blues like the pro’s. Or at least you can learn how to feel like a pro even if you are not and even if you do not care to. This blog is about the blues and how to play them with feeling and passion.
But first a little about the “Blues”.
Blues is a widely diversified type of music that can be incorporated into virtually any type of western music. The eight or twelve bar western style music. This is especially so with our modern music beginning with the southern Black Blues style.
It began with the slaves on the plantations. They would occupy their time singing and chanting to their thoughts of being in chains. “They’re Gonna Put Y’all Back In Chains” is a derivative of what some people think of slavery. Personally I think that it would suck to be in chains or to be a slave owner and especially to be a slave. For freedom is the only way our God meant man to live. True freedom is a dream every human being has. Thus comes the blues.
They are all about bondage whether it be to another human being or a government, or to the habits of ones self. But the thought is still of yearning for that freedom. So come the volume of songs that are all about that. The yearning to be free. O Lord would you please set me free, set me free from these chains that bind me. Steeped in the feeling of the Blues.
Today we all know what it is like to have a habit or a lifestyle that we would like to change. We feel stuck in a rut. A rut of a never ending style of life that we want to be free of. It makes us feel blue and down and out. I feel the pain, the pain of being alone. I feel the need, the need of having someone. I can’t take it no more I just wanna be free, free from the bonds that hold me. I tell you that is simply, “The Blues”
Blues Scales are those long bending sounds that reach deep down into the inner feelings and the soul. They wrap themselves around the heart with desperation and despair. Its an unbearable place for a person to be. But some of us, most of us, have been there at one time or another in our lives. If only we can break the chains that bind us then everything will be alright. And that my friends is called “The Blues” And that is what this site is all about, The Blues either to eskape from the blues or to escape to the blues. “The South Texas Eskapers”
